Santa’s Visit to the Lock-Up!

Published on | General

We have had a whirlwind weekend full of festive cheer, with over 250 guests meeting Santa in our first ever Grotto!

Christmas Crafts

Families visited Mrs Claus’ workshop to get crafty with Christmas decorations – creating reindeer’s with chocolate noses to hang upon their trees, and mini-trees from those pesky bits of spare wrapping paper!

Most importantly, children we’re given the chance to write a letter directly to Santa and pop it in our special post-box; through a little magic Santa will be replying to every letter as a thank you to those who came to visit!

The letters made Santa chuckle as they varied from “Thank you’s” and Christmas wishes, to requests for games consoles and even a new kitchen!

Santa’s Grotto

Santa was delighted to welcome more than 130 children to the Grotto, each of whom made the nice list and received a special gift!

The richly decorated grotto sparkled with blue, silver, and white, and overflowed with presents galore!

We want to offer a special thanks to Santa for visiting, and all his elves who brought the Grotto to life and helped welcome so many happy families.

Festive Evening

Our Saturday night Festive Evening was made extra special by Voca Bella – the all-female, Shropshire-based a cappella singing group, who were recently finalists in the Midlands Choir of the Year! They filled this old building with festive cheer, and even gave a special rendition of happy birthday to one of our visitors!

We had so much fun readying for Christmas and sharing the seasonal joy with everyone who visited – thank you for supporting our museum, and we hope you have a very merry Christmas!

If you joined us over our festive weekend we’d love to hear your feedback so we can make next year’s even bigger and better! Fill out this form to share your thoughts.
