Bring the story to life – Volunteer with us

Ever wondered what it was like to walk the beat in Victorian Birmingham? Or how policing has evolved into the high-tech world we know today?

At the West Midlands Police Museum, we bring history to life—from the early days of law and order to the challenges and triumphs of modern policing.

From front of house to education engagement there’s a role for everyone at the Museum!

Education volunteers
If you’re passionate about history and making a positive impact on young minds our education volunteer role is perfect for you! We work with hundreds of schools, youth groups, and colleges throughout the year so there will be plenty of opportunity to get stuck in.

There’s no requirement to have a teaching or youth work background but we do welcome applications from people wanting to gain experience in the industry.

We’d love you to volunteer at least once a month. Our education programmes usually run on weekdays between 10 am and 2.30 pm. All volunteering is subject to vetting.

Weekend and event volunteers
If you’re looking for variety and a hand-on experience, our weekend and event volunteer role is for you! We’re looking for enthusiastic and friendly individuals to welcome our visitors into the Museum.

No two days are the same with opportunities to gain skills in retail, front of house, hospitality, and storytelling. We also have opportunities for you to participate in our Murder Mystery events, evening talks, and support our corporate offer.
